Washing Your Face With Natural Sponge

15:23

This picture really is awful but I took it when I did my haul photographs and now the sponge has been used so sorry I don't have a better one for you.

I am intrigued by different ways of caring for my very dry and very sensitive skin, the more natural the better and if it can add radiance then all the better.

My normal routine is to wash my face with the Soap and Glory face wash using a clean wash cloth, I only wash my face once a day as my skin is so dry it cant cope with its oils being stripped twice in a day. I don't want to try any of the electronic face cleanses as they seem too harsh for my sensitive skin but natural sponge, now that intrigues me.

I have tried this a couple of times now, and have used it in conjunction with my normal face wash. I have mixed feelings about using the natural sponge, there are some really good things about the sponge but there are also some things that make it difficult if not impossible for me to use on a daily basis.

The good:

  • Makes it really easy to remove the makeup, even easier than with a washcloth.
  • Very easy to clean the sponge itself.
  • Its natural which appeals to me
  • Cheap and easy to replace
  • Exfoliates my skin really well making it look very bright and radiant

The bad:

  • Natural sponge is not naturally very soft and feels rough on my skin
  • The sponge does a great job of exfoliating my skin but because of this it is too harsh to use on a daily basis.
  • I don't have anywhere sanitary to store a wet sponge that allows full air to it to allow it to dry.

I like the effect washing my face with a natural sponge but I cant use it every day, so what I am doing is keeping this to use once a week. I do find that it is much kinder to my skin than using an exfoliating product and as these exfoliators normally contain micro beads which are awful for the environment much kinder and more sustainable too.  If we are being really honest its much cheaper too.

How do you wash your face and exfoliate?

Love

Kay
