Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette - A New Day - Review

05:38
You might have seen I picked this up when I went shopping with my birthday money and I have now had a chance to try it out so I thought I would share my views with you.

I do have another one of the Sleek palettes but I have had it for a while, its called Garden of Eden and is all purples and greens. I really like this palette so I had high hopes for the A New Day palette.

It comes in this box which gives you an idea of the colours inside, but they aren't that much of a match.

The packaging itself is quite nice, its rather sleek, did you get it? The only real big issue I have with this is the closing mechanism. I sometimes find it difficult to get the palette open and if you are wearing nail polish it can destroy your nails. It does have a nice big mirror though.

There are 12 neutral shades, an unusual peach and mauve slant to this palette that I haven't seen anywhere else. There are 7 shimmery/satin shades and 5 matte shades. On the whole the shimmers are better than the mattes, but the mattes do blend quite well.

Here they all are swatched with primer, as you can see some shades come through better than others. What I will say is that I am not the pigment police and I think some eyeshadows can be so pigmented that it is difficult to work with, especially if you are like me and a bit rubbish at eyeshadow. This is pigmented enough that you can see it without you being able to make any major mistakes.

You have all the name of the shades on the box but also on a loose plastic film inside the palette. This annoys the hell out of me. I don't keep excess packaging so the box is already in the bin and having to muck about with the plastic bit annoys me beyond belief. I don't know why they just don't print the names on the blinking palette.

Sun is shining, Brightside, Daydreamer

Sun is shining - is almost a true yellow shimmer, it has great pay off.
Birghtside - bronze / peach shimmer also great quality
Daydreamer - matte brown, pigment isn't great, that swatch took a couple of goes to get it to show up, but its a nice crease colour and blends well.

Let it go, Don't worry, Be happy

Let it go - an almost matte but not quite dusky pink, very pigmentmented and in my opinion one of the more unique shades
Don't worry - a deep shimmery brown, brilliant colour pay off but not a colour I reach for much as its a bit more difficult for me to use.
Be happy - pale peach matte, once again its difficult to get much colour pay off from this matte shade but it is a great blending colour.

Feelin good, Silver lining, Shine on

Feelin good - a pale matte pink, not much colour pay off with this either, dont see much difference to Be happy, but once again a nice blending colour. I use this to set my primer.
Silver Lining - a cooler toned brown / mauve nice colour pay off more of a satin than a shimmer.
Shine on - an orange gold shimmer, I like this there is more pigmentation in this than my swatch shows.

Carpe diem, Believer, Happy

Carpe diem - dark mauve matte, I love this for the crease
Believer - almost metallic champagne colour, really pigmented and looks amazing on the eye
Happy - dark brown matte but its got an almost warm purple tone to it, great in the outer corner.

I like Sleek eyeshadow palettes, they are £8.99 and very often on offer. Are they the same quality as Urban Decay? Of course not they are a quarter of the price, but I'm not 22 anymore I cant justify spending £40 on an eyeshadow palette every time I want a change, I also really appreciate the subtle difference in colour selection than in any other palette I own. The other thing about Sleek is they are so easy to get hold of, they are in Boots and Superdrug and available widely online.

I would recommend this product and I would buy more.

Do you have any Sleek palettes? What are your thoughts?

Love

Kay
