Brand in the spotlight W7

I wanted to start a brand in the spotlight series where we take a brand and really look at its ethos and actions to help us decide if it's a brand we want to support.

W7 is a budget brand started in London in 2002 so it's been going a while. Though W7 is a UK based company it is now available around the world and its products are made in many different countries and factories. Being so widely available is fantastic the lack of a central manufacturing base could be problematic and may cause quality and consistency issues.

Like many budget brands W7 looks at the trends in the market and moves quickly to capitalise on those trends, but it isn't as here today gone tomorrow as some of the other budget companies. W7 doesn't just get inspireded by big brands products in some cases it blatantly reproduces the product such as the urban decay naked palettes. Their take on the naked pallets are called Lightly Toasted Colour Me Buff and Beat It. These are all pretty good dupes of the naked palettes with really nice quality but at around £10 are a third of the price. Some people find brands producing such blatant dupes problematic, they feel it's stealing intellectual property. I understand the sentiment but at the end of the day that's not going to stop me buying something. In fashion and beauty all brands are stealing ideas from each other and reproducing the same products.

Something that really does attract me to W7 is there animal testing policies. W7 are completely against animal testing and don't do it at all. According to their website if a country requires animal testing they will not trade in that county. An admirable policy that I love and wish more brands would follow, you can read then talk about this HERE.

All in all W7 is a beauty brand I like and that I look forward to reviewing individual products for you.

What is your experience with W7? Do you love it or hate it?

Love

Kay
