Panning Made Me Love It - L’Oréal Lip Paint Laqure Gone With The Nude

In the spirit of me trying to stop spending my money on crap (not doing great so far) and particularly not buying makeup I am have been really starting to get into panning.

Panning is where you deliberately use up the makeup you have rather than buying new. I started panning in October whilst still buying makeup and have enjoyed the experience but this year I am trying to take it further, panning to prevent me from buying.

One of my many random purchases last spring was this L’Oréal Lip Paint lacquer in Gone with the Nude.

I liked it when I bought it but only used it a few times. I mean I have over 80 lipsticks I don’t give any much love. I like bullet lipsticks so this has never been my go to formula and the colour is unusual for me. I normally go for something more pink or mauve.

When I was thinking about what lipsticks to pan though this one came to mind. It’s the kind of formula I know goes rancid quicker and it’s pretty wearable colour so I thought why not. Let’s see how much use we can get out of this thing before I need to chuck it away.

The thing is I actually like this a lot more than I thought I did. The formula is creamy and not drying which is something really important to me. But most impressively it created a weird (but not unpleasant) film on my lips which made it last far longer on my lips than I expected. Even with drinking out of a bottle.

Here is another swatch in different light.

Before panning I would just have ignored this lipstick but panning made me think differently about it and now I think I might actually get my money’s worth out of it.

I like it. I like the way the colour looks on me, I like the feel of it and I like how it stays on longer than a normal bullet lipstick.

I’m going to break the habit of a lifetime. Even though I really like this I am not running out to buy it in more colours. I am going to enjoy it while it’s here and when it’s done I’m going to discover another gem my collection is hiding.

Love
Kay
