Scalp Psoriasis Treatment

12:00
If you don't know I have a skin condition called Psoriasis which is an unpleasant condition that causes my skin to develop dry patches and scabs that are red and flaky. This can make my skin very dry and sore and really sensitive.

Recently my Daughter caught head lice (nits) and though I didn't catch them I was quite worried that I would. Of course no one wants nits but for me its more than that due to my Psoriasis.  My Psoriasis affects my scalp quite badly and makes it really sensitive and sore. If I caught nits there is no way I would be able to use the over the counter chemical based products to get rid of them.

So I went searching for natural remedies to help prevent myself getting infested. What I found was a suggestion to use Tea Tree and Lavender oil sprayed on the roots of my hair. This apparently has had clinical trials that have proved it to be an effective deterrent and to a less proven extent a way to actually treat the infestation.

Dutifully I made up my solution of 1 part Tea Tree Oil 1 part Lavender Oil and 2 parts water. I sprayed it on my head every night (which in my opinion smelled amazing), it did make my hair a little more greasy so I had to wash my hair every other day as opposed to ever third day.

What became apparently very quickly was that my head was a lot less itchy, because I wasn't itching so much the sores on my scalp began to heal. This was over a few days.

Now I am used to waking up with blood on my pillow as I have scratched my head so much in my sleep so to find something that stopped the itching and let my scalp heal has been revolutionary.

I wont say that it has gotten rid of the Psoriasis in my scalp because that would be a lie, I still have some. What is amazing though is the amount of scabs I have has reduced and I have literally no sores on my head. I has also made a big improvement to the amount of flaking I get.

I am so willing to wash my hair if I get this kind of benefit. Its also really cheap, does't stink to high heaven like every other Psoriasis treatment and because its not chemical based I have yet to experience any side effects other than a really nice smelling pillow.

Because the oils need to be diluted this solution doesn't seem to work great for normal patches on the rest of my body but I am going to give adding the oils to a carrier oil like coconut oil a go.

I will keep you posted.

Bonus - I didn't get nits and I am sure this solution had a part to play in that.

What are your natural Psoriasis remedies?

Love
