Beauty Chat: Disappointing Makeup
What do you do with makeup that disappoints you?
I know in America they can return it, I am so jealous of this. If I knew I could return makeup that didn't work for me I would be willing to be so much more adventurous. I'd probably have less makeup too.
I have some things that are real humdingers sat in my makeup draws that I just don't want to part with as I spent so much money on them, and it also feels like such a waste to throw pretty much new makeup in the bin.
I have developed a few strategies for myself if I buy something I don't like. Firstly if its the wrong tone for me I give it to my sister who is cool toned to my warm. If its too drying or made for oily skin I also give it to my sister who has oily skin where as I have dry. I am lucky as I get her rejects for the same reasons.
My Mum tends to like things that have less pigment as she struggles to put her makeup on as she doesn't wear it much so she likes things that she can't really go wrong with. So there goes anything too light or unpigmented.
Some crazy stuff I let my daughter play with. She is 10 and loves to do crazy makeup looks to dance around the house in. She isn't allowed to wear make up out other than a little lip gloss to parties.
The rest kind of sits clogging up my draws. Anything truly awful I do throw away but there is so much that sits in between that I think maybe one day.
I am also notorious for using something once, not liking it and then never touching it again. I need to get better at playing with things and trying to wear them different ways.
