Disaster
I can't believe it, I've woken up this morning with a dastardly cold sore. What makes it worse is that I haven't felt remotely under the weather which is when I normally get them.
Now I know cold sores can be a bit of a taboo subject but I don't really understand why. I get that it's a type of herpes but about 50% of people will have them at some point in their lives. I don't understand why some people are so funny about it.
Do I wish I didn't get cold sores? Of course I do. They hurt, they are uncomfortable they last forever and they look awful so of course I hate them. For a large portion of people like me they are just unavoidable.
It completely messes with my life for about 3/4 weeks as that's how long my outbreaks tend to last. That means storing my toothbrush separate, keeping my towels away from everyone, keeping my hands away from my mouth etc. Worst thing for me really is that fact I can't kiss my husband or daughter, it's really frustrating. (For clarity I never kiss her on the mouth but I don't want to put my mouth anywhere near her face when I have a cold sore).
My lip draw also gets very little use. I get breakouts so often that I do have a designated pot of super moisturising lip balm and a tinted lip gloss I use to disguise the look of my cold sore when it's really gross.
What's frustrating me is that I start a new project on Monday and I really don't want to feel uncomfortable with a second head on my lip.
I must have tried every cold sore remedy out there and nothing really touches mine, but I have had them since being a small child. All I can do is cover it with one of those patches and wait it out.
Do you have any amazing cold sore remedies? Please share them.
On a side note until I was 12 I thought they were called coleslaws no wonder I never wanted to eat coleslaw!!!
Love
Kay
